A Fond Farewell & Final Sale Until June 30, 2026
To Our Valued Community,
With heartfelt thanks and a touch of sadness, we are announcing the permanent closure of our jewellery business. Our final day will be June 30, 2026.
We want to be transparent with you, our wonderful customers about this decision.
First, the practical details: We have extended our closing date to give you more time to shop and because we have a beautiful, significant amount of stock to find new homes for. When we reopened last July, buoyed by your encouragement, we over ordered for the holiday season. We also have final "new arrival" pieces, ordered in August, still arriving. This means our final sale is a true opportunity to acquire stunning pieces at exceptional prices, as we clear everything.
Why close after reopening? This is the most important part. We reopened solely because of you. Your messages and enthusiasm made us believe we could continue. Ultimately, however, the business is no longer financially sustainable. The brutal reality is that the costs of precious metals have risen by nearly 100% and digital advertising costs have increased tenfold. With the cost of living crisis, we refused to raise our prices proportionally, as we understood the strain on our customers. The math became impossible: on any order under $100, we were simply no longer making a profit. While we faced some outside noise, the unwavering support from our actual customers meant the world. Running a small, honest brand under these pressures has become too great a challenge.
Before we go, we want to leave you with one final, important thought about jewellery care:
It seems gone are the days when we understood costume jewellery would naturally tarnish. Now, there's an expectation that it should last forever without change and if it doesn't, it's deemed "bad quality." But the truth is, all costume and fashion jewellery will tarnish. How fast depends entirely on your body chemistry, environment and how you care for it.
We ask you to apply simple logic: Your keychains scratch. Your cutlery wears. Even cars and ships rust. Do they remain untouched by time and use? Nothing built to be used is immune to time. So why do we expect a piece of jewellery worn against skin, exposed to elements to be "tarnish-proof" and last forever? It's an unrealistic standard that fuels dishonest marketing.
We’ve been disheartened to see that many would rather be persuaded by a dishonest "waterproof" claim than trust a business honest about this basic reality. If you want a piece that resists tarnish, you must invest in specific materials: solid gold for a gold colour, or stainless steel (which will not tarnish but will rust) and sterling silver (which will tarnish slowly but can be easily cleaned back to its original shine) for a silver look.
I also understand that these days, many are inspired to start their own business. However, the rise of jewellery brands begun without proper research into materials or that simply copy the dishonest marketing of others, only spreads more misinformation. Rather than solving a problem, this creates more: it confuses customers and degrades trust for everyone. If you are inspired to start your own jewellery line, please do the foundational work. Research why we use certain materials and why we avoid others. Build your brand on knowledge, not just keywords.
We built our brand on this honesty. Jewellery, like all beautiful things, requires care. Please cherish your pieces, understand their materials and care for them accordingly.
Thank you for the incredible support and trust you’ve brought into our journey. It has been an honour to create for you and be part of your special moments.
With sincere gratitude,
KIMCH
